This example is from a new favorite of mine, Sarah Fragoso’s book Everyday Paleo, which I use frequently. I found the index was actually a concordance, however, so I’ve written an index for it.
chicken: 43, 45, 47, 49-52…
You get the picture. Do you really want to turn to every single page listed, hoping to find the recipe you were searching for, and then back to the index to get the next page number?
With my new index, I can find “that chicken slow cooker recipe” or “something that uses coconut milk” or “something quick for dinner.” And that’s really how I (and probably you) use a cookbook index.
